What are the best puppy training books/methods?
I am getting a 10 week old female american eskimo dog. I need some good books on basic behavioral training, housebreaking, etc. I don’t want a method that uses treats as a means to train the dogs.
Also, how young should one start training a puppy?

First off do not listen to your parents or anyone else. Times have changed and the way to discipline and train animals has evolved with new training techniques and reward systems that work. Go to your neighbvorhood pet store and talk with other customers as alot of them are breeders trainers and overall experienced animal owners. ( not the typical 16 yr old with part time job) also it would be a good idea to go to a few sessions with your animal and see how he responds to what kind of training.
How To Train A Dog At Home
Like A Professional Dog Trainer
Ok the best way which you can train a dog is by reward based training, go onto Amazon and buy yourself whats called a clicker and a clicker training book, read to book before you even start to use the clicker, if you use the cicker before you know what your doing with it you will ruin its whole effect.
You can start training you put from a really young age and from the minute you have to put a few days and have built up a bond with it you can start training it simple things like sit and paw etc.
What you need to do is whats called charging up the clicker, so get say a sausage or something really really tasty to the pup and break it up into small pieces, throw about 10-12 pieces onto the ground and every time the pup picks up one click he clicker, the minute it picks it up and the pup will begin to associate the clicker with a good thing and then from there you can start training the pup with the clicker but using a reward such as ust praise but you need to do the charging you with the food first of all to ensure that the dog will catch onto what the hell the clicking noise is.
Here’s a site where you can get such information, http://miniurl.com/2698
Good luck!
